Information about our wish balloons

Preparation

Always keep water or fire extinguishers nearby.
Children in the launch area must be kept under supervision at all times.
No persons under the influence of alcohol should be involved in the handling or igniting of the lanterns.
Ensure that the wind is not stronger than 5 mph.
Unpack lanterns in a safe environment, away from any sources of ignition.
Take care not to tear the delicate paper.
Never use near roads, dry standing crops, or in places where they may be misinterpreted as a distress signal.
Remember that each lantern is quite large, is a potential fire hazard, and has to land somewhere.
It is the responsibilityof the firer to use the product safely.
Do not release within 5 miles of an airport.
Ensure that trees or power lines are not in the flight path.
Ensure that the flight path is clear and lanterns will not drift into buildings.

Safety

These articles are intended for use by responsible adults.
Wear gloves and fire-proof clothing, and have a bucket of water or fire extinguisher handy.

Launching

Check the direction of the wind before lighting to ensure no obstacles.
Ensure the lantern is fully extended, and not creased or hanging sideways.
This is best done by holding the top of the lantern, gently lifting it a couple of feet, then dropping it sharply.
Air pressure will inflate the unit
Hold the lantern upright, and have a helper light the wick. after a few seconds thelantern will feel lighter, and then gradually rise.
Do not attempt to throw it up into the air - just guide it and let it go by itself.... Then stand back and enjoy!

Notes

Glo-lanterns (khoom Fay) tend to right themselves automatically as they ascend.
Tethering the lanterns is not recommended. Whilst this may work in very still conditions, the tether often prevents the unit from remaining upright as the wind blows.

Glo-lanterns are safe when used correctly but are not toys and should not be used by children
