Ideas for Birthdays, Anniversaries, Angelversaries, Funerals etc

This page is to share what we have done in memory of our babies on special dates and anniversaries. We would like these pages to help others struggling to think of what to do. Please click here to share special things that you have done:

From Alexandra Grace's Mummy - On Alexandra's 1st & 2nd anniversary we bought some beautiful wish balloons. You write your own messages on them, light the wick and then watch them float high up into the stars. It has been really special and felt like we were sending a message to our little girl.

From Madison's mummy - We take 100 pink balloons to her sleeping place and let them go, and we put a small cake with a candle where she lays and leave it until the wind blows it out, we'll be having her third this yr (22-11-05) and im sure we will do the same, i have a 3 and 4 yr old aswell who know its her bday but dont understand why we r sad, so this brings smiles to the day as little ones love balloons :)

From Levi's Mummy - There is a list of Rose bush names my mother in law went through to find a rose bush sharing the same name as our little one for us to plant in the garden and take with us where ever we move to in years to come.

There actually isn't one called Levi or anything similar but there is one called My Sweetheart which is the one she's chosen for us.

Also my Mum's idea is to buy a family bible where you need to complete the front page of the family tree and included Levi on it.

From Calypso's mummy - For Calypso's first birthday we are planning on releasing 100 pink and blue balloons at the cemetery and then following it up with a birthday/memorial party at the city part in the shelter house. We're going to have a cake and everything. I'm also making her a baby quilt.

We have a curio case in our home with her things and things we've bought for her. I'm going to be buying her a few ballerina things for her case. I'm also planning on getting her a new me to you teddy bear for her gravesite.

From Sophia's Mummy - We did quite a few things for Sofia's first birthday. We really wanted to mark the day in a special way. I made a big chocolate cake in the shape of a teddy, and we took it to the crematorium where we have her plaque and sang her happy birthday and released balloons and ate the cake. A friend and her boys came along too, which was nice.

We also thought of what we would have got Sofia for her first birthday and bought it and gave it to a local playgroup. I like to think that she watches the little ones playing with the toys and joins in.

The other thing that we did was buying some of the books that had helped us through our first year, and giving them to our local sands group, in memory of Sofia

From Bailey's Mummy -  for Bailey's first birthday we decorated his special place with balloons and banners, i bought him a cake with thomas the tank engine on, and left him a piece by his bedside. we let baby blue balloons go, got him some special birthday flowers, my mum bought me a star called 'Bailey James', i also used the 'we help the children' website to send 2 goats to a family in africa (Bm ailey also got a certificate for the goats and a birthday card from 'we save the children').. we spent an hour with him, went home and had a bit of cake with the family..
hope some of these suggestions help, we had a very peaceful day of rememberance. xxxxxx
